I decided to make a pendant with shrink plastic.

Stamp the rose image onto clear shrink plastic with black solvent ink.  Flip it over and color with Copics onto the other side so the markers don’t get contaminated with the ink.

Marker colors will be more intense when the piece is shrunken. (Hint: the markers don’t blend as well on a porous surface, so I colored each section with only one marker, after much experimentation.)

Align the S4-246 Labels Eleven #5 (the smallest is #1) onto the shrink plastic colored image.  Tape in place.  Cut in Spellbinders Wizard™.  I fed the sandwich twice to make sure it cut through the plastic.  Use a hole punch to make a hole if desired.  Shrink according to plastic manufacturer’s instructions.

This picture shows the end result, it shrunk from approximately 2.5 x 3.5″ to 1 x 1.5″.

The necklace is assembled by stringing plastic pearls along a sheer ribbon.  Attach a clasp at the end.  Place a jump ring on the pendant and attach to the ribbon between two pearls.

For the box, cut/emboss Labels Eleven #5 from blue cardstock.  Leave the paper inside the die template and airbrush a blue marker over the edge of the die template.  Cut/emboss white cardstock with Labels Eleven #4. Airbrush with a pink marker.  Stamp  “Beauty Lies Within” sentiment onto the pink Label.

For the Rose, stamp the single Rose image twice with dye ink.  Color one image in simply, no blending necessary.  On the second, color and blend inks as desired.  Hand trim with scissors. Layer the “finished” Rose on top of the basic Rose image, and adhere with 3D Foam Squares.  Layer the Labels onto a box (I recycled one from a previous gift), wrap the box with ribbon and tie a bow.

I used the following supplies:

Spellbinders:  Wizard, S4-246 Labels Eleven die template
Flourishes: Beauty Within Stamp Set
SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™: 3D Foam Squares, E-Z Runner®
Copic: R20, R22, R24, B21, B23, B24, G21, G24, G28

Life’s a Beach

Or not so much, if you look at the thermometer, it’s rather chilly this weekend.  I actually have a card I put together as a thank you.

The background took all of 30 seconds and a few Copic Markers.  The bottom is E37, to look like sand along a beach.  Then I airbrushed layers of blues, starting with the lightest, B21 and layered horizontally increasing the colors, B23, B26, B29.

The palm tree is a retired Spellbinders™ die template.  I cut the trunk from thin balsa wood, trimmed it with scissors so I just had the trunk, then used E37 to color through like a stencil.  The leaves and grass are Core’dinations paper, cut/embossed and sanded.  I used SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™ 3D Foam Squares (I cut the smaller sizes in half while still on the backing) to fit on the back side of the trunk.

For the Labels, I stamped the Thank You, then lined up a Classic Oval to cut/emboss,  then airbrushed B24 while the paper was still in the die template, so I had the while border.  Then I did the same with the Labels Six, but airbrushed with B21 and used the 3D Foam Squares to elevate the Thank You die cut.

I added some sprigs of grass with G07.  I should have made several of these, it was super quick and fun!

Happy Mothers Day!
