Don’t Sweat It Card

Happy Saturday Morning! It’s the start of the first holiday week here! I’m hosting Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, and well, this house isn’t going to clean itself. Believe me, I’ve given it enough time, ugh!

I’m on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® blog today for a blog hop with Art Impressions Stamps. I received this fun runner lady stamp, so I layered her up, colored her in and gave her a race bib too! See all the details on this post, and be sure to enter to win adhesives and a stamp!

and a close up

BethPingry-CoffeeLovers-2

1. When did you start drinking coffee? When my youngest was about 1 year old. I don’t know why I waited so long, that boy never slept and I spent much of that year half-asleep, while the baby never slept!

2. What is favorite brand (you can name up to three). I stick with what I like, and we brew either Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts at home. We work from home, we’d look pretty silly standing in line at the coffee shop in our jammies!

3. What is the most amazing coffee that you had? Remember where and when? I would have to say my first peppermint mocha…the start of a love story!

4. If I don’t drink my needed coffee, I will… be very cranky! I should also not answer emails before my second cup. Just last week I referred to this year as 2013. (I probably shouldn’t be blogging either!)

So a little about my card – I recently bought some DCWV burlap paper and I love how it die cuts and that you can ink and stamp directly on it! I started with that as my base, and added the Vintage Floral background stamp from A Jillian Vance Design. Then I stamped and colored the Tea Time cup with Copic markers. I also colored the chipboard letters, I didn’t like the look at first, but now I think it looks like coffee stains!

I used 3D Foam Hearts from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L® with red glitter above the cup, then added some lines with the brown marker. I layered the burlap on to red cardstock, then a kraft card base, using Creative Photo Corners. The cup was with 3D Foam Squares (they stick to anything!) for dimension.

Here are my supplies:

  • Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®: 3D Foam Hearts, 3D Foam Squares Black, Creative Photo Corners Kraft, E-Z Squares® Refillable
  • A Jillian Vance Design: Vintage Floral Background Builder, Tea Time Stamp Set
  • Copic Markers: R39, R37, G28, G24, O, E18, E43 (see MyMarkers for an app that organizes all your markers and ink pads, written by my hubby, available for IOS and Android)
  • Clearsnap: Mix’d Media Chox ink – sparrow
  • DCWV – Burlap paper
  • American Crafts – Thickers Platforms
  • Red Glitter, Red and Kraft cardstock

Beth Pingry Queen Card

If you saw my Celebrate post from yesterday, you’ll notice the similarities! That’s because I had to clean my scrapping area for Spunky’s graduation party, and I left out only a few items. Luckily I just love this combo of papers, and I was itching to use my new Unity Stamps. It’s hard to see straight on, but I added 3D Foam Squares to the back of the Queen and the sentiment, like this:

BethPingry-Queen-2

She stands off the card background a teensy bit, and the bling, well, she is the queen of the entire freakin’ universe,  you know! I’m using this card for a friend’s birthday!

Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to finish the blog hop by heading to the CardMaker Blog!

Crafters Home Fall Sneak Peek Blog Hop!

Join Spellbinders™ Paper Arts and Crafters Home as we celebrate a Fall Sneak Peek!

Spellbinders and participating stores in the Crafters Home Buying Group are excited to introduce three new die template sets sold exclusively through Crafters Home stores through January! You’ll have to wait until February to find these die template designs in non-member stores.
These new dies are in stock! Get yours now at a participating Crafters Home store, see the list on the Spellbinders Blog!

Daily winners receive all three of the new designs!

Today’s new die is Nested Tea Cups

S4-350 Nested Tea Cups $ 19.99
Small Cup: 1 ¼ x 1 1/8”
Small Handle ½ x 5/8”
Medium Cup 2 1/8 x 1 7/8”
Medium Handle ¾ x 1 ½”
Large Cup 3 x 2 5/8”
Large Handle 1 1/8 x 2”

Today I have a 5 x 7 canvas with stamped tea cups, precariously stacked.

I had the idea in my head, loved the direction it was going in with the stamped and colored cups, but then it just seems like it needs something else…but I ran out of time and brain cells over the weekend. This is one of those things that I’ll set aside and most likely rework until I am happier with it.

On that note though, I like that it really looks like an elegant Victorian tea cup.  I used embossing ink, carefully applying it to the rim only, by inking just that part of the die template, called reverse stenciling.  I embossed in the Spellbinders Grand Calibur® machine, then added embossing powder and heated.

The saucer is heat embossed the same way.  I curled the cups to make them look rounded, and used SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™ 3D Foam Squares and Crafty Foam Tape to give the cups some lift.

Christmas Gift Bag Toppers

Welcome everyone!  I’m getting ready for the holidays!

I made these gift bag toppers over the weekend.  They’re  fun, festive and quick to make with JustRite® Stampers and Spellbinders™ dies!

I stamped with the JustRite Stampers sets and heat embossed the designs.  I used gel pens to color inside some of the lines to add a pop of color.  The center of the stamp allows room to stamp a greeting or write a name.

Once the ink was dry I die cut and embossed the images with Spellbinders 2010 Heirloom Ornament and 2011 Heirloom Ornament dies.  I attached the ornament shapes onto clothes pins with SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™ Crafty Power Tape.  Tie ribbon above the ornament, add a spot of bling and they’re done!  Just clip to a gift bag!

Supplies:

Paris Card Tutorial

Thanks so much for visiting and commenting yesterday.  You can still comment to enter to win prizes from Spellbinders™ Paper Arts,  Want2Scrap™,  and JustRite® Stampers – just be sure to comment on the Want To Make It Fabulous post before the contest ends on Friday Sept 9.

Alrighty then, I promised instructions!  First, here’s the card again:

Beth Pingry card

These are the supplies:

Spellbinders Grand Calibur® Die Cutting Machine, Grand Squares, Ribbon Banners, Labels Twenty, Labels Twenty-Two
JustRite Stampers: Bon Voyage, Greetings from Paris stamp Sets
Want2Scrap: Fleur de Lis Rectangle Nestabling™, turquoise
SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™ 3D Foam Squares, MyStik™ Permanent
Copic: BG11, BG15, BG18 Sketch Markers
My Mind’s Eye: So Sophie (Sisters Peaceful Plumb, Brothers & Sisters Gracious Greenery
Inks: Clearsnap Colorbox Black Pigment; Tsukineko Moment Black Tuxedo
Old Book, craft knife, black and red cardstock

1. The black base was cut/embossed with Grand Squares, I folded the cardstock and made sure the fold line laid inside of the cut line of the die template.

2. The striped paper was also cut with Grand Squares.

3. Polka Dot and red papers were cut/embossed with Labels Twenty Two.

4. I stamped the Fleur de Lis onto a book page from an old book. {Note to self – be sure to stamp the Fleur right side up on the print.} Die cut and emboss, using low tack tape to secure the Labels Twenty die template once it is perfectly placed over the stamped image. Color  image with markers.

5. Emboss only with black cardstock and Labels Twenty – the same sized die used in step 4.  Leave the paper inside the die template, secure with low tack tape if desired.  With a sharp craft knife and a cutting mat, (or scissors – I’m not that good) cut around the outer edge of the die template.  This will create a mat for the die cut in Step 4.

6. I stamped the Paris and France onto a blank book page (so it matched the color of the Fleur paper). Then die cut/emboss with Ribbon Banner die template. Again, use low tack tape to secure placement of die template if desired.

7. With the Fleur de Lis Rectangle Nestabling, trim the medium sized piece from the package with scissors, leave it on the plastic backing.  Cut between the ‘stones’ to fit the sides of the red die cut label.  Peel and stick, the Nestabling keeps it shape!

8. With remaining bling from the piece, place in key points along Fleur de Lis stamped image and between Paris and France.

9. Ink the edges of the die cuts with Clearsnap Colorbox Black Pigment ink.

10. Assemble!  I used SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L 3D  Foam Squares and MyStik Permanent adhesive  to attach the layers.

Tips:

  • You can cut multiple die templates at once in the Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine, saves time and effort!
  • Old Book pages really drink up the ink, be prepared to color the image several times.
