Amazing Paper Grace | Introducing the Make A Scene Collection!

Hi crafty friends! I’m introducing the new Amazing Paper Grace Collection Make A Scene, designed by Becca Feeken for Spellbinders.  Stay tuned for a video link at the bottom of the post.

NOW, TO EXPLAIN THIS TO YOU . . . Becca is known for interactive die cutting collections such as 3D Vignettes and Shadowbox Vignettes. Becca creates a new twist on interactive that you can also use with flat cards and with existing die collections. That means new material for the products you already own!

What is MAKE A SCENE?

Make A Scene is an interactive card collection and a flat card collection, all in one – you choose based on your style.

The interactive portion is made with a card base that folds in six different layered scenery options.  The 3D card base folds flat but slides open to reveal a dimensional scene.  Since it has a 3D profile, the opened card makes quite a splash and can be set out on a desk for showing off.  The card base is huge and it offers you the chance to use one of six multi-piece scenes that cover many occasions.  If the six scenes are not your occasion du jour, then by all means dive into your huge stash of dies and insert your own contents.

The flat card portion is made with the individual scenes.  Each of the components for the scenes can be cut onto the top of a panel and used on a flat card or as part of a 3D Vignette or as part of a shadowbox scene.

Today we’re showing you so many creative options! Each Creative Team Member has created both a 3D Card and a Flat Card so that you can see the best of both worlds!

My Wedding Scene Cards

Using the S6-165 Make a Scene Card Base and S4-1088 Wedded Bliss Scene, I’ve made a diorama-like of card. Also included are S6-168 Scallop Façade Frame, S5-436 Grand Cinch and Go Flowers, STP-025 Make A Scene Sentiments, and S5-435 Elegant Adornments.

STP-025 Make A Scene Sentiments

My card when closed, has a stenciled cloud on the front ‘doors’, and when you pull the sides to open the scene, the clouds continue along the sides and back. The bride and groom stand in front of a gazebo, with Mr and Mrs in script behind them. All the die cuts are layered in white a silver shadow. The groom is in black, which is just another layer that I trimmed to add more dimension to the scene.

The card front is embellished with handmade paper flowers using the Grand Cinch and Go Flowers die, and the frame is the Scallop Facade Frame. You can see on the left and right edges of the card where you pull the pieces outward to Make A Scene!

My second project is a tag to tuck in with a gift, or you can punch a hole and add a ribbon to it. I repeat the same layering to match the card. The ‘Mr Mrs; is fussy cut to remove the ‘and’ so it would fit here.

Designer Tip: Use a sturdy cardstock, it will help the card stand up, open, and close so much easier. Have fun with layers and dimensional adhesives, however don’t add too much bulk to the inserts.

When you see the card base it will make total sense how this goes together.  Here is a quick start video to lay it all out for you.

Amazing Paper Grace February Die of the Month Blog Hop – Bella Diamante!

Mixed media canvas using Bella Diamante die from Amazing Paper Grace and Spellbinders, by Beth Pingry.

This month’s Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month is an elegant A7 sized die with a diamond motif as a focal point.  It’s a new shape to the line-up and today I’m introducing the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month for February 2021, Bella Diamante.

Becca Feeken of Amazing Paper Grace sent me this die to use today.

Becca says a book cover with four elegant corners inspired her, she thought it was a dreamy and dramatic way to showcase a frame.  Bella Diamante is a 5 x 7 card front, with several element layers and rims to use as inlays.  These multiple rims and elements will allow for both A2 and A7 cards.  Elegance reigns supreme with the ability to create shaped cards,  framed cards, or simply embellish with class.

There are 7 dies included in the Bella Diamante Set

I started playing with the Bella Diamante die, cutting thin chipboard with it. I envisioned a wrought iron mixed media look with texture, rust, and dimension. I layered the chipboard die cuts and then added white paint, then silver, then a combination of rusty shades, along with crackle and iridescent medium.

Here’s a quick slideshow showing how I built the layers!

Designer Tip:

Chipboard takes 2-3 cutting passes in a die cut machine. Be sure to emboss it too, that helps add more dimension to the look. Use thin chipboard and layer it for more dimension.

On this card, first a disclaimer: I received a prototype die set that included this circle shaped center. I didn’t realize it wasn’t part of the final die design when I made the card. You will see this center die in a future die set.

My intention on the card was again chipboard with a wrought iron look. This one started with a black base, then the teal and copper paints. I literally wiped the paints on with my finger to give it an aged look. I used an emery board to subtly sand some of the embossing and edges. The smaller flower dies are included with Bella Diamante, the center is the flower is from the Candlewick Rosebud. Visit the Facebook Group for flower tutorials!

Christmas Cascade Blog Hop |Amazing Paper Grace

Christmas Cascade Blog Hop for Amazing Paper Grace by Beth Pingry Blue Snowflake paper craft ensemble

We all love interactive and kinetic cards! Introducing the Christmas Cascade Collection!

This holiday collection allows you to make a Cascading Card inside of a Shadowbox Frame, mounted on a card base or unmounted. Don’t worry, these motifs make great conventional cards as well.

We listened to you, and we heard loud and clear that our community loves dynamic and purposeful cards. In previous collections we gave you 3D Vignettes in a Christmas way.  Now we’ve found a way to merge a Collection favorite, Shadowbox Vignettes, in a new format.

Becca Feeken with Amazing Paper Grace sent me these fabulous dies to start my Christmas card making!

Our Creative Team is sharing our makes from the Christmas Cascade Collection.  Let’s take a second to sort this out…

What’s a Christmas Cascade?

Amazing Paper Grace takes a spin on Christmas by building a new collection around something you already have in your stash – the Shadowbox Dies.  Becca loves building upon what you already have and making it new again.

Christmas Cascade is made up of sets of 3-inch motif dies where each set has 3 motifs.  That’s enough for each leaf of your waterfall but again, you could make them the center of your A2 or your A7 card. These, paired with the Waterfall base will allow you to use any dies to make your next Waterfall Card.

The Inspiration Behind Christmas Cascade

The inspiration for Christmas Cascade was to produce a motif to use from an enclosure card all the way up to full A7 card with background layers.  This “cardlet” size has been a favorite in our stash because the elements can easily transition into all of the Amazing Paper Grace Collections and to all size cards.  Hint:  This is not the last time you will see “Cardlets”

Each of our Creative Team members will show you how to make a Christmas Cascade Card that is a waterfall card and a Christmas Cascade Card that is a flat card.

My Waterfall Card

First up is my Waterfall Card using Amazing Paper Grace S5-429 Snowflake Splendor by Spellbinders.

Here is what the dies look like:

S6-166 Christmas Cascade Card Base

I’m using a joy fold card base to hold the waterfall piece. You flip open the card and pull the tab, and each snowflake lifts off and flips to the side. It’s super fun, and really easy to make with the dies in the set. Visit my Instagram page to see my quick video showing how the card works! Then you can see every else’s with the list in the post!

Designer Tip:  Add depth and dimension to your die cuts by adding a shadow in a contrasting color. Just adhere the die cuts slightly offset, as I have done with the snowflakes.

Next I have a card and simple ornament or small gift box using Amazing Paper Grace S5-429 Snowflake Splendor by Spellbinders. On both cards I used S4-1051 Oval Coronet in white to add some interest to the white backgrounds.
