Holiday Medley Blog Hop | Amazing Paper Grace

A7 Christmas Card

Today I’m blog hopping with Amazing Paper Grace, who sent me these dies to use.

This magical menagerie of dies helps celebrate one of the most festive times of the year through paper crafting! The Holiday Medley Collection consists of eight die sets and a Glimmer Hot Foil Plate Set that coordinates with one of the die sets. The array of dies can be mixed within existing die sets to offer more creative options. These include the Make a Scene Card Base and 3D Vignettes. The versatile new Merry Filigree Card Builder, Celebrate Scrollwork Card Builder and Joy Crescent Card Builder sets create different card formats from A2, A7, Mini Slimline, to Slimline.

In addition, you can remove the Christmas Motifs and use them year-round. Visit each of the designers’ blogs for inspiration and ideas from the Holiday Medley Collection!

The die I’m using is S5-466 Joy Crescent Card Builder

My challenge was to show this die in 3 sizes, A2, A7, and slimline, with the same papers to show you how to use all parts of the die to create any size or shape card. By layering the cardstock with gold metallic paper I created a dimensional effect with the designs and words. For the Joy to the World part I die cut and then fussy cut the words and layered again.

The poinsettia flowers are from the Cinch and Go Poinsettia and I followed the tutorial in the Amazing Paper Grace Facebook Group (join, then go to Guides, the tutorial is by Anita Kejriwal).

Designer Tip: These dies have intricate cut lines, and even through I used a nice sturdy cardstock, I had to add a shim to the die cut sandwich. This saves having to run the die through a few times. When I get new dies I like to die cut all the pieces and save those so I can arrange them and decide how I’m going to use them without cutting into my designer papers until I’m ready.

Holiday Wall Decor

Hi everyone, I’ve got a home decor post on A Jillian Vance Design Today. As I was unpacking the boxes of ornaments and decking the halls, I found a set of 3 canvases that I had made several years ago. I promptly pulled the project apart and started this one!

Beth Pingry Holiday Wall Decor

I used the Eight Point Star Quilt die, and then die cut several pieces of coordinating papers. I trimmed off the corners away to make a star die cut, and then fit the patterned papers back into the pieces.

A quick and easy way to adhere this is to apply Adhesive Sheets to the back of the patterned paper before die cutting, then lay out the designs, and remove the backing paper before adhering each piece.

You could use blocks of wood for this project too, the canvases I used are about 1.5 inches thick, so they can hang on the wall or stand alone on a shelf or table.

Thanks for coming by today!

Watercolor Christmas Card

Happy Belated Thanksgiving, I hope yours was great. Between having the boys home from school, cooking, cleaning, and having to take down the computer (it normally lives on the dining room table), and then a bit of a family cell phone fiasco on Black Friday, I’m catching up on Friday’s blog post.

This went up on A Jillian Vance Design on Friday. Yellow on a Christmas card? Yes, I know, but it seemed to go much better with the greens than anything else I tried to match it to. The watercolor effect is via Distress Ink.

Also, if you like this stamp (Oh Holy Night), it’s still on sale for the Black Friday promotion though Nov 30, and be sure to use the code BF2014 for additional discounts!
