Flourishes Birthday Card Tutorial

I promised the instructions on the card I made for the Flourishes Birthday Blog Hop yesterday. Thank you Flourishes for the invitation to be a part of your blog hop!

I would have added the instructions to that post, but a combination of computer problems, some not so great photos, dentist appointments and a rugby parent meeting cut my time short, oh and that thing called work, which involves the not so productive computer.

Lets go going!  I mentioned my supply list,  Worldwin Paper, Clearsnap ink and Bits of Bling, SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™ 3D Foam Squares and MyStik™ and a bit of twine!  I used Spellbinders™  LF-168 Grand Large LabelsS4-324 Ribbon Banners and S5-028 Nested Pennants.

I started with a Shaped Card base, made by folding 12×12″ cardstock in  half, aligning the fold line just below the cut edge of Grand Large Labels #5 (#1 is the smallest in the set).  I cut the shaped card base.

Next I taped the Grand Large Labels #4 to the card base, nesting it inside of the #5 die template.  I embossed this in the Grand Calibur™, and that’s how I achieved the second embossed line around the edges.

I cut/embossed with the #3 die template with white and lighter purple paper for the front and side of the card.  On the light purple front I stamped with one of the border stamps.

On the white-inside I stamped with one of the sentiments and floral images.

For the banner on the front, I stamped the plaid images and cut/embossed with the ribbon piece from Nested Pennants.  For the Ribbon Banners, I curved the stamp to match the curve of the die cut.

I used 3D Foam Squares to mount the Ribbon Banner to the front of the card.  I also used them to attach the twine to the Pennant, and then to the card, so they had a dimensional look.  I added some bling and it’s done!

And the finished card again,

Thank you again for stopping by!  Next week I’m in the Spellbinders Bunny Hop,

 I’ll post that schedule next!

Flourishes Birthday Pennants Blog Hop!

When Flourishes first laid eyes on two of the brand new die template sets from Spellbinders, they just knew that they needed a stamp set to coordinate with these funky and fresh dies templates! Are you ready to take a peek?

This fun set just screams celebration and offers 6 different pennants and flags all designed to coordinate perfectly with Spellbinders S5-028 Nested Pennants and S5-029 Lacey Nested Pennants. There are also 9 sentiments and 8 accents in the set that you can use to deck out your pennant shapes in fun and different ways!

Want a little more to coordinate with your cards? How about our new Strips and Stripes background set? This set offers three strips to use together as one background or separate as three different strips that coordinate with the Birthday Pennants set!

I’ve been crazy busy, but I promise to post the instructions and step shots  and inside tomorrow.  I did an easy technique to get the double embossed frame around the card. So gather up your Worldwin Paper, Clearsnap ink and Bits of Bling, SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™ 3D Foam Squares and MyStik™ and a bit of twine!  I used LF-168 Grand Large Labels and S4-324 Ribbon Banners too!

Because Flourishes just knew this set was a match made in heaven with the Spellbinder’s Pennant Dies, we asked some of their ever-so-talented designers to join the Flourishes team for a little show and tell! Make sure to hop on over and see…

The House Book

A while ago a friend asked me to make a scrapbook to record the remodeling she and her husband had done to their house. They updated every room, and the house is absolutely beautiful! She handed over the pictures and gave me complete creative control. This is what I did:

Beth Pingry House book1

I started with chipbooard covers and cut an opening to fit a dollhouse window that I painted and distressed.

The cover included stamping, texture and bling.

The inside cover included chipboard mouldings.  I had to build it up to accommodate for the depth of the window.

The book got so thick I had to bind it with bead chain, I tied keys and other items to the chain.

The HOME showed through the window.  I mounted this on a clear page.

Similar images needed a folded flap page to keep the together and in order.

I tried to vary the page sizes, between 8×8 and 6×6 and 4×6, and put them in top, middle and bottom spots in the binding.

Another clear page.  I had to make sure the elements behind it would with it.

And that the photos had a good flow through the book, and that colors didn’t clash.

Who knew I would have paper to exactly match her shower curtain??

I left lined journaling blocks throughout the book, for them to record specifics on each room.

This was a lot of work, but I was very happy with it, as was my friend.  I used many Spellbinders die templates throughout, and most of the patterned paper was from my Basic Grey stash.  I used up the scraps on these Thank You cards.

Thanks for stopping!  I appreciate your comments, thanks for taking a minute to leave me a note!
