Flourishes Birthday Card Tutorial

I promised the instructions on the card I made for the Flourishes Birthday Blog Hop yesterday. Thank you Flourishes for the invitation to be a part of your blog hop!

I would have added the instructions to that post, but a combination of computer problems, some not so great photos, dentist appointments and a rugby parent meeting cut my time short, oh and that thing called work, which involves the not so productive computer.

Lets go going!  I mentioned my supply list,  Worldwin Paper, Clearsnap ink and Bits of Bling, SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™ 3D Foam Squares and MyStik™ and a bit of twine!  I used Spellbinders™  LF-168 Grand Large LabelsS4-324 Ribbon Banners and S5-028 Nested Pennants.

I started with a Shaped Card base, made by folding 12×12″ cardstock in  half, aligning the fold line just below the cut edge of Grand Large Labels #5 (#1 is the smallest in the set).  I cut the shaped card base.

Next I taped the Grand Large Labels #4 to the card base, nesting it inside of the #5 die template.  I embossed this in the Grand Calibur™, and that’s how I achieved the second embossed line around the edges.

I cut/embossed with the #3 die template with white and lighter purple paper for the front and side of the card.  On the light purple front I stamped with one of the border stamps.

On the white-inside I stamped with one of the sentiments and floral images.

For the banner on the front, I stamped the plaid images and cut/embossed with the ribbon piece from Nested Pennants.  For the Ribbon Banners, I curved the stamp to match the curve of the die cut.

I used 3D Foam Squares to mount the Ribbon Banner to the front of the card.  I also used them to attach the twine to the Pennant, and then to the card, so they had a dimensional look.  I added some bling and it’s done!

And the finished card again,

Thank you again for stopping by!  Next week I’m in the Spellbinders Bunny Hop,

 I’ll post that schedule next!

Flourishes Birthday Pennants Blog Hop!

When Flourishes first laid eyes on two of the brand new die template sets from Spellbinders, they just knew that they needed a stamp set to coordinate with these funky and fresh dies templates! Are you ready to take a peek?

This fun set just screams celebration and offers 6 different pennants and flags all designed to coordinate perfectly with Spellbinders S5-028 Nested Pennants and S5-029 Lacey Nested Pennants. There are also 9 sentiments and 8 accents in the set that you can use to deck out your pennant shapes in fun and different ways!

Want a little more to coordinate with your cards? How about our new Strips and Stripes background set? This set offers three strips to use together as one background or separate as three different strips that coordinate with the Birthday Pennants set!

I’ve been crazy busy, but I promise to post the instructions and step shots  and inside tomorrow.  I did an easy technique to get the double embossed frame around the card. So gather up your Worldwin Paper, Clearsnap ink and Bits of Bling, SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™ 3D Foam Squares and MyStik™ and a bit of twine!  I used LF-168 Grand Large Labels and S4-324 Ribbon Banners too!

Because Flourishes just knew this set was a match made in heaven with the Spellbinder’s Pennant Dies, we asked some of their ever-so-talented designers to join the Flourishes team for a little show and tell! Make sure to hop on over and see…

Deck the Halls!

Last year we inherited Christmas Ornaments from my FIL, as he was getting the house ready for sale.  I love ornaments, and I knew the box was full of treasures.  Add those to the ornaments I already had from my grandparents, and I had enough to fill another tree!  That justified, I ran off to Target to get one.

This tree is in the front hall, and as long as Cindy doesn’t brush by it too fast or hard, and I attach  the ornaments instead of just hanging them, everything will be safe.  I wanted a skinny and tall one, because there just isn’t a lot of space, but unlimited height.  But I didn’t want to spend a fortune, so I ended up with a skinny 8 footer.  I will post a finished photo, somehow I never got around to taking one last year…despite the fact that the tree was up until almost March!

So here is the page, all the deets are on Spellbinders Blog:

I used these supplies: Spellbinders Grand Calibur, S4-284 2010 Holiday Trees; LF-161 Grand Labels One; S7-018 Big Scalloped Border Grand; S4-168 Large Labels; S4-130 Classic Rectangles SM; SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™, MyStik permanent adhesive; Graphic 45, Playtimes Past – Jack and Jill, Transatlantique – Around the World, Christmas Past – The Holly and the Ivy and Deck the Halls papers; WorldWin Papers, Treasures Kraft cardstock; Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker, Warm Cord Brads; Cosmo Cricket, Tiny Type stickers; Creative Impressions, Satin Ribbon; Clearsnap Colorbox, Black Pigment and Dark Moss Fluid Chalk Inks; Making Memories, glittered alpha stickers, tag, Ranger Distress Antique Linen ink.

Thanks for looking!
