Spellbinders and Unity Stamp Company Blog Hop!

Welcome to our TWO-day event!

You should be joining me from Natalie Denver’s blog, if not then head to the beginning on the Unity Stamp Co. Blog.

With all the blog-swaps that are happening out there lately, I can’t think of one more exciting than when the amazing women of SPELLBINDERS™ get together with the rock stars of UNITY STAMP COMPANY!

We can’t wait to show you a special line of coordinating products featuring SPELLBINDERS dies and SAMANTHA WALKER for Unity Stamp Co. rubber stamps!

Not only are we thrilled to be collaborating on such a special 2-day event, but ONE of you will win ALL of the coordinating stamps and dies from the Samantha Walker collection!  We will also have 1 winner each day from the comments that will receive 1 Samantha Walker stamp set and coordinating dies.

So be sure to enjoy our hop both days, leave comments on all of the blogs each day and check back to see if you won!

(winners will be posted on Wednesday, October 19th on the Unity Blog and Spellbinders Blog)

My project is a candle band and coordinating gift box.

I used the Ornate Artisan Tags and Accents die template set from Spellbinders. There are a few more dies in this set, but these are the ones I used on the project.

I stamped with the Ornate Artisan Stackers stamps, which coordinate with the dies, and were both designed by Samantha Walker! (This stamp set is huge, these are just the ones I used, there are so many shapes and phrases in this set!!)

For the coordinating box, I used Spellbinders Edgeabilities® Classic Triple Scallop set to make the band around the Square Petal Top Box.

Of course I used my Spellbinders Grand Calibur® machine!

Papers are all from My Mind’s Eye, Stella and Rose Collection, Hazel and Hattie pattern sets.  I stamped with Clearsnap Colorbox Black Pigment ink.  I used SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™ Black 3D Foam Squares for the layers on the candle and Crafty Power Tape to hold the ribbon on the back of the label and a few small pieces on the box tabs and to wrap the Classic Triple Scallop band.  Ribbon is from Offray.

Be sure to leave a comment, then hop on over the next blog,

NOTE: if you are hopping on Day 2 Please go to Eva Doblias’ Blog now to resume the official hop (waiting for an incorrect link to be fixed!)

Paris Card Tutorial

Thanks so much for visiting and commenting yesterday.  You can still comment to enter to win prizes from Spellbinders™ Paper Arts,  Want2Scrap™,  and JustRite® Stampers – just be sure to comment on the Want To Make It Fabulous post before the contest ends on Friday Sept 9.

Alrighty then, I promised instructions!  First, here’s the card again:

Beth Pingry card

These are the supplies:

Spellbinders Grand Calibur® Die Cutting Machine, Grand Squares, Ribbon Banners, Labels Twenty, Labels Twenty-Two
JustRite Stampers: Bon Voyage, Greetings from Paris stamp Sets
Want2Scrap: Fleur de Lis Rectangle Nestabling™, turquoise
SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™ 3D Foam Squares, MyStik™ Permanent
Copic: BG11, BG15, BG18 Sketch Markers
My Mind’s Eye: So Sophie (Sisters Peaceful Plumb, Brothers & Sisters Gracious Greenery
Inks: Clearsnap Colorbox Black Pigment; Tsukineko Moment Black Tuxedo
Old Book, craft knife, black and red cardstock

1. The black base was cut/embossed with Grand Squares, I folded the cardstock and made sure the fold line laid inside of the cut line of the die template.

2. The striped paper was also cut with Grand Squares.

3. Polka Dot and red papers were cut/embossed with Labels Twenty Two.

4. I stamped the Fleur de Lis onto a book page from an old book. {Note to self – be sure to stamp the Fleur right side up on the print.} Die cut and emboss, using low tack tape to secure the Labels Twenty die template once it is perfectly placed over the stamped image. Color  image with markers.

5. Emboss only with black cardstock and Labels Twenty – the same sized die used in step 4.  Leave the paper inside the die template, secure with low tack tape if desired.  With a sharp craft knife and a cutting mat, (or scissors – I’m not that good) cut around the outer edge of the die template.  This will create a mat for the die cut in Step 4.

6. I stamped the Paris and France onto a blank book page (so it matched the color of the Fleur paper). Then die cut/emboss with Ribbon Banner die template. Again, use low tack tape to secure placement of die template if desired.

7. With the Fleur de Lis Rectangle Nestabling, trim the medium sized piece from the package with scissors, leave it on the plastic backing.  Cut between the ‘stones’ to fit the sides of the red die cut label.  Peel and stick, the Nestabling keeps it shape!

8. With remaining bling from the piece, place in key points along Fleur de Lis stamped image and between Paris and France.

9. Ink the edges of the die cuts with Clearsnap Colorbox Black Pigment ink.

10. Assemble!  I used SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L 3D  Foam Squares and MyStik Permanent adhesive  to attach the layers.

Tips:

  • You can cut multiple die templates at once in the Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine, saves time and effort!
  • Old Book pages really drink up the ink, be prepared to color the image several times.

Today is my day on the Crafty Power Blog, and I whipped up this little paper basket featuring Crafty Power Tape!

Make one, or make a several for parties!

You can even use them as place settings!

They’re easy enough for kids to do, and you get to use up some paper from the stash (so you can buy more, right?)
