I loved the holly wreath in this set, and wanted to hang it on my door:

I am thrilled to remove the project picture and replace it with this:

I created a 6-panel door using S4-142 Long Classic Rectangle LG #2 (the smallest is #1) to make four of the panels, and S4-128 Classic Squares SM #3 for the top pieces.  I inked the edges and embossed lines with Distress Antique Linen ink, and adhered the panels with SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L 3D Foam Squares, to give them more dimension. The door knob is a glitter brad from Creative Impressions, and it’s on the smallest die cut from S4- 283 2010 Heirloom Ornaments. All paper is from Worldwin.

The inside has “Merry Christmas” stamped on S5-025 Labels Seventeen, and layered onto S4-301 Labels Sixteen.

Taking a closer look at the wreath, you can see that it has three layers.  I stamped it three times and colored them with Copic atyou Spica pens, using Lipstick for the berries and Olive and Melon for the holly leaves.  I hand cut and layered with 3D Foam Squares.

Pictures just don’t capture the glittery delight of the pens, but belive me, its there!

Thanks for looking!  Enjoy the blog hop and don’t forget to enter to win on the Flouishes Blog!

Using Spellbinders Edgeabilities die templates

I had a question from a reader about the Spellbinders™ S4-044 Rose Blossoms die template. Spellbinders  Edgeabilities® s are so versatile, they just look a little intimidating, so hopefully I can show how fun  and useful these really are.

This is the die she specifically asked about:

Here are a few ways to use this die template:

First, die cut it.  Doesn’t look like much, right?

Next, emboss it:

Now you see some definition!  Flip it over and use the die as a stencil.  I used my Copic Markers and ABS to airbrush the colors, but you can use chalk, ink, colored pencils, paint…whatever you like to use.

Next take the paper out of the die template.

You have the die template , the main piece, and the 2 smaller roses to embellish and layer on the finished product.  Just toss the negative piece.

To make a card with this die,  I used 8.5 x 5.5″ piece, folded.  I used regular tape to hold the die template in place once I centered it onto the card front, with the cut edges facing the card front.

To cut this in my Wizard, I  need the cut edges to cut into the white mat, but not into the back side of the card.  To do this, I place the die (taped to the card front) on the Magnetic Mat and fold the back of the card under the magnetic mat, then place the top mat on the sandwich and cut in the Wizard.

This gives me the image with an aperture (opening) around it.  The opening can be backed with vellum, other cardstock, acetate, or left open.  I could have positioned the die tempate close to the edge to cut a decorative edge to the card, like this:

Just make sure the main image is covered by the paper.  Cut/emboss in die cut machine.

Use scissors to trim off excess on sides if needed.

Fold the paper to make a decorative topper, or fold in half to make an edge embellishment, like this:

(note this is the same paper, I folded it twice, so ignore the crease by my thumb)

So many possibilities!   Check out these Spellbinders Blog to see more examples of Edgeabilities:

I decided to make a pendant with shrink plastic.

Stamp the rose image onto clear shrink plastic with black solvent ink.  Flip it over and color with Copics onto the other side so the markers don’t get contaminated with the ink.

Marker colors will be more intense when the piece is shrunken. (Hint: the markers don’t blend as well on a porous surface, so I colored each section with only one marker, after much experimentation.)

Align the S4-246 Labels Eleven #5 (the smallest is #1) onto the shrink plastic colored image.  Tape in place.  Cut in Spellbinders Wizard™.  I fed the sandwich twice to make sure it cut through the plastic.  Use a hole punch to make a hole if desired.  Shrink according to plastic manufacturer’s instructions.

This picture shows the end result, it shrunk from approximately 2.5 x 3.5″ to 1 x 1.5″.

The necklace is assembled by stringing plastic pearls along a sheer ribbon.  Attach a clasp at the end.  Place a jump ring on the pendant and attach to the ribbon between two pearls.

For the box, cut/emboss Labels Eleven #5 from blue cardstock.  Leave the paper inside the die template and airbrush a blue marker over the edge of the die template.  Cut/emboss white cardstock with Labels Eleven #4. Airbrush with a pink marker.  Stamp  “Beauty Lies Within” sentiment onto the pink Label.

For the Rose, stamp the single Rose image twice with dye ink.  Color one image in simply, no blending necessary.  On the second, color and blend inks as desired.  Hand trim with scissors. Layer the “finished” Rose on top of the basic Rose image, and adhere with 3D Foam Squares.  Layer the Labels onto a box (I recycled one from a previous gift), wrap the box with ribbon and tie a bow.

I used the following supplies:

Spellbinders:  Wizard, S4-246 Labels Eleven die template
Flourishes: Beauty Within Stamp Set
SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™: 3D Foam Squares, E-Z Runner®
Copic: R20, R22, R24, B21, B23, B24, G21, G24, G28
Tsukineko Jet Black Stazon® Solvent Ink, Tuxedo Black Momento™ Dye Ink
Shrink Plastic: Lucky Squirrel Clear
Cardstock: Worldwin Colormates Light Belgium Blue, White
Ribbon: Offray Sheerly Yours
Pearls: Bead Design Co.
Clasp: Metal Gallery

Thank you for visiting! Please leave me a comment, then go to the Flourishes Blog to comment for a chance to win.

I am working on another project with the same stamp set, but a completely different technique! I hope you’ll bookmark me or subscribe to see more!
